GUITAR 101 & 102
Taught by Shane Engisch
⭐ Guitar 101 — 6-Week Beginner Music Class
Guitar 101 is Gravity Dance Center’s beginner-friendly introduction to learning guitar! Designed for students ages 7 and up, this 6-week course teaches the essential foundations of playing: proper hand position, basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and how to follow along with real beginner songs.
Classes are upbeat, accessible, and structured to help students feel successful from day one—even if they’ve never picked up a guitar before. Our goal is to build confidence, musical curiosity, and a strong technical base in a fun, supportive environment.
Students who finish Guitar 101 and want to continue can join our 10-Week Guitar Performance Program, which prepares them to play a group piece on stage during our annual studio recital. This next step gives young musicians the chance to grow, practice teamwork, and shine in a real performance alongside our dancers and specialty program students.
⭐ Guitar 102 — 10-Week Performance Program
Guitar 102 is the next exciting step for students who completed Guitar 101 and want to continue growing as young musicians. This 10-week program expands on the fundamentals—adding new chords, more advanced strumming techniques, rhythm development, and playing as part of a group.
Students work together to learn a performance-ready piece that will be showcased on stage during Gravity Dance Center’s annual recital. This course emphasizes teamwork, musical expression, and stage confidence, giving students a meaningful goal to work toward throughout the session.
Guitar 102 is designed to transform beginning guitarists into ensemble performers who can hold their own in a live show environment. It’s the perfect pathway for kids who want to keep improving, challenge themselves, and experience the excitement of performing for an audience.
